March 2009

There are 4 blog entries for March 2009.

With Spring here, the Downtown Greenville music season has started. Each Thursday night from 5:30 until 8:30 the Downtown Alive music series will be held at Piazza Bergomo. On Fridays the Main Street Jazz festival will run from 5:30 until 9:30 from the Hyatt Regency Plaza deck on Main Street.

Both of these music series feature local and regional groups with all styles of music. Just another reason that downtown Greenville is the place to be.

Real Estate signs for the most part are boring, all look the same and really do not draw attention to the home that is for sale. We decided that we wanted to do something different to stand out from other Realtors and hopefully show our clients we go the extra mile when it comes to marketing their home.

Please let me know what you think.

One of the great things about living in Greenville South Carolina is that we experience the four seasons but in a mild way. Historically we average 1.5 inches of snow a year and sometimes we go 3 or 4 years without any.

Sunday night into Monday morning our area received about 4 inches of snow and of course that was good news for the grocery stores which quickly ran out of bread and milk. The schools were closed Monday and today which used to make students and teachers happy but now that just means they are losing days off Spring break. The temperatures by this Saturday are going to be in the 70's so we will be back to "Chamber of Commerce" type weather.

By now you probably know that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes a tax credit up to $8,000 for first time home buyers. You also know that with any government program, you will need to do some research to make sure that you qualify. Below I have listed some highlights to assist you but this is by no means a complete list of all the details. Consult with your tax professional so you can get all the facts.

  • This program is for First Time home buyers or those that have not owned a home principal residence in the 3 years prior to the purchase.
  • This is not a loan and will not have to be repaid assuming you do not sell the home for 3 years after the purchase.
  • Income limits are based on modified adjusted gross income
