Southwest Airlines announced today that beginning March 13, 2011 they will operate 7 nonstop flights a day from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The daily flights are:

  • One Flight to Orlando
  • Two to Baltimore-Washington            
  • Two to Chicago Midway
  • One to Nashville
  • One to Houston

Southwest will be using Boeing 737 aircraft for the flights out of Greenville. They offer 2 free checked bags and still offer free soft drinks. It is expected that the other carriers will feel the pressure in our market and reduce fares to be competitive.

Single family home sales in the Greenville SC real estate market were soft in September leaving home sales year to date for 2010 still slightly ahead of the same time period in 2009. Interest rates remain at historic lows with 30 year rates currently in the 4% to 4.25% range.

Below is a recap of activity based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for single family residential home sales through September 30, 2010.

  • There are currently 6,289 single family homes for sale with 842 of these being new/never lived in homes.
  • During the month of September there were 409 single family homes sold for an average price of $172,333.
  • The homes sold in September sold for an average of 95% of asking
