A just released news story provided some encouraging news for the Greenville SC housing and job market. Below are some highlights of the report.

  • There is a projected 10% increase in new home construction for 2012. In Greenville County for the first quarter of 2012 there were 447 building permits issued. That was a 23.1 % increase over the first quarter of 2011.
  • There were 3,092 new jobs created in the Upstate during 2011.
  • The inventory of used homes for sale is down over 17% which is a healthy sign.

Greenville continues to outperform most other major metropolitan areas and this news helps validate that point.

Warm weather has returned and the Greenville SC Real Estate market continues to show improvement over 2011 homes sales. Interest rates remain low and we have a healthly number of homes for sale in our market.

Below is a recap of real estate activity for single family home sales based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for March 2012.

  • There are currently 4,675 single family homes for sale in the Greenville South Carolina MLS. 575 of these homes are to be built/new never lived in homes.
  • During the month of March 557 homes closed for an average sales price of $171,225 which was an average of 5.5% off asking price. These homes sold in an average of 112 days on market.
