The Greenville SC distracted driver ordinance goes into effect April 1, 2014. The ordinance bans use of cellphones, tablets, PDAs and all other portable electronic communication devices while driving. Devices may be used only hands-free such as Bluetooth technology.
Drivers may not make or receive phone calls, read or send emails or text messages while operating a vehicle within Greenville. This applies also at red lights or sitting in traffic. Fines for breaking the new ordinance starts at $100 for the first offense. This move by the City of Greenville will make the roads safer for everyone.
