The Greenville SC distracted driver ordinance goes into effect April 1, 2014. The ordinance bans use of cellphones, tablets, PDAs and all other portable electronic communication devices while driving. Devices may be used only hands-free such as Bluetooth technology.

Drivers may not make or receive phone calls, read or send emails or text messages while operating a vehicle within Greenville. This applies also at red lights or sitting in traffic. Fines for breaking the new ordinance starts at $100 for the first offense. This move by the City of Greenville will make the roads safer for everyone.

Realtors get a lot of interesting questions about the area from people looking to move here from various parts of the country. Typically they involve local schools, or questions about the real estate market. Sometimes they involve comparing different areas such as Greer or Simpsonville.

One of the most interesting questions from relocating people is about the things to do and the lifestyle here. I am not sure what they expect, but one thing seems consistent with their responses. They are surprised at the arts, music and events that are going on in Greenville and the surrounding area almost 100% of the time.

This winter has been one for the record books. Just when we get through a "Polar Inversion" and record breaking cold, here comes ice and snow. While we cannot know when it will end, (spring is officially only 35 days away!), we can suggest some tips on how to deal with ice and snow and to protect your home!

Step One: Keep warm! No this is not just a dumb suggestion. ;-) If you are away from home in the winter, it is a good idea to leave the heat ON and keep the home at least at 65 degrees. This helps prevent pipes from freezing and flooding rooms. In the recent storms we have seen that happen all too often!

Step Two: Prune trees and clean gutters in the fall. (Yes. It may be to late for it this year, but PLEASE put it on your list for this next year!

First month of 2014 is in the books and we are off to a strong start for the year. Homes for sale inventory levels remain low and we are in hopes of seeing some good quality listings coming on the market in next few weeks. There is good buying activity and other buyers in the wings waiting to see what is coming on the market. Interest rates have taken a slight dip in the last week which is always positive news for home buyers. Working with several out of state buyers and appreciate all my clients.
