2017 is in the books and it is time to take a look back as well as look forward. During 2107 there were 11,586 single family homes sold which represented a 2.5% increase over 2016. We finished the year with a historically low number of homes for sale and attractive interest rates. I anticipate we will continue with lower than typical number of homes for sale and interest rates will probably tick up in the range of 1/2 to 3/4 percent.
There are currently 2,966 single family homes for sale with 1,159 of these being new or to be built homes. During the month of December there were 935 single family homes sold for and average price of $231,292 which represented a 2.5% discount off asking price. These homes sold in an average of 61 days on market. December 2017 sales were 7.4% higher than December 2016.
