BMW Announces 500 New Jobs
BMW announced today that they will be expanding their Greer, South Carolina assembly plant at a cost of $750 million and would add 500 new jobs. BMW estimates it will take 3 years to complete the expansion focused on the assembly shop and the paint shop.
The announced expansion is part of BMW's plans to increase production from 150,000 vehicles per year to nearly 240,000 by 2012. This will be the fourth major expansion since the plant opened in Greer.
BMW is but one of the major employers in our area. We are proud of our diverse economy here and enjoy continued growth due to successful companies like BMW.
