Realtors strive to build name awareness in their markets along with a reputation for helping home buyers and sellers be successful with their real estate transactions. Have you ever applied for credit and found out that someone with your same name has been confused with you and their bad credit shows up on your report?
The nightmare for a fellow Realtor, Carolyn Capalbo, that specializes in real estate in Prince William County in Northern Virginia started back in March of 2008. You probably recall the Elliot Spitzer scandal. Well the mother of the woman involved with Mr. Spitzer is named Carolyn Capalbo. What are the odds? There are supposedly only 4 Carolyn Capalbo's in the United States. Thank goodness there is only 1 Eddy Kicker. The reporters started calling Realtor Carolyn Capalbo and asking how she felt about her daughter Ashley having a relationship with the Governor of New York. Fortunately her daughter is not named Ashley or the story would be even worse.
People always want to research their Realtors when they are deciding who to use so you can imagine Carolyn's challenge when bikini clad images of the wrong Carolyn come up at the top of the search engine search results. I am part of a nationwide group of Realtors working to get Carolyn's real estate site back at the top of Google.
What's the importance of a name? In a Realtor's case it is our livelihood.

Thanks for your post Eddy! When I married my husband 20 years ago, who would have thought that I would be dealing with this insanity! Really, what are the odds? And you are right, how many people out there never bothered to call me to enlist my professional services because they have mistaken me for the other Carolyn Capalbo? I am so thankful and appreciative of the Realtor community coming to my aid. Thank you again for your support!
