If October is any indication, the Greenville SC real estate market is firmly on the road to recovery. Closings for the month of October were up 25% compared to last October. The current inventory of single family homes for sale is 15% lower than the same time period in 2011. Tomorrow is election day and no one knows for sure how that will impact the economy, but here in Greenville things are looking positive.
Below is a recap of activity based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for single family residential home sales for October 2012.
- There are currently 4,357 single family homes for sale in our Greenville MLS and 557 of these are new construction or to be built homes. This compares to the same time period in 2011 when there were 5,107 single family homes for sale with 659 of those being new construction or to be built homes.
- During the month of October there were 580 single family home closings. These homes closed for an average price of $183,661 which represented a 4.2% discount off list. During the month of October 2011 there were 437 closings for an average price of $168,621.
