I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and were able to spend some quality time with your family. In today's rat race, it is important to step back and reflect on all the things we are thankful for. Family, friends and my clients are all things that I appreciate and am thankful for throughout the year.
November 2011 single family homes sales in the Greenville South Carolina real estate market held there own and were slightly ahead of November 2010. Year to date we are only 3% behind 2010 which puts us well above most other major metropolitan markets. Another encouraging sign is that the current single family homes for sale has dropped below 5,000 for the first time in recent history. So based on our current numbers we have about a 10 month supply of homes for sale. That is slightly higher than desired but a much better number than we have recently had.
Below is a recap of real estate activity for single family home sales based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for November 2011.
- There are currently 4,936 single family homes for sale. 651 of these homes are under construction/to be built/new never lived in homes.
- During the month of November 405 homes sold for an average price of $166,534. These homes sold for an average of 5.2% off asking price and sold in an average of 109 days.
The Greenville area has had positive news over the past month about several financial institutions making major investments in buildings and commitments to hire significant numbers of new employees. Greenville remains a great place to work and live and I would welcome the chance to work with you if a move to our area is in your future.
