With 2010 under way, I wanted to share information about the Greenville SC real estate activity for the month of January. The number of homes sold was comparable to 2009 and with the first time home buyer program ending with contracts written by the end of April, we expect improving numbers for the balance of the first quarter.
Mortgage rates are still at attractive, near record low levels. Most pundits are anticipating a slight uptick by mid year.
Below is a recap of activity based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for single family residential home sales through January 31, 2010.
- Currently there are 5,472 single family homes for sale with 883 of these being new, never lived in homes.
- During the month of January there were 324 homes sold for an average price of $176,722. These homes sold for an average of 95% of list price and sold in an average of 107 days on market.
