Hope you and your family had a safe and happy July 4th. Hard to believe we are already halfway through 2010 but here we are in July already. Interest rates remain at historic lows and the Greenville SC real estate market has good inventory in all price classes.
Below is a recap of activity based on information from the Multiple Listing Service of Greenville, South Carolina, Inc. for single family residential home sales through June 30, 2010.
- There are currently 6,552 single family homes for sale in the Greenville SC MLS. 912 of these homes are new/never lived in homes.
- In the month of June 2010 there were 693 homes sold which is an increase of 5% over June 2009. The homes sold in June had an average sale price of $193,969 and sold for an average of 95% of list price. These homes sold in average of 96 days on market.
- Year to date 2010 single family homes sales are up 11% over the same time period in 2009.
The first time home buyer closing period was extended but the homes had to be under contract by the end of April. So this program is over for new contracts and the market must now stand on it's own. Many factors influence home sales so time will tell how the recovery will continue.
