Greenville County Rec is hosting a great opportunity for cyclists who want to explore one of the most beautiful trails in the area! This is a great option for even beginners and is an excellent way to connect with others who love fitness and the great outdoors.
The road trip will be to Damascus, Virginia to bike the 35 mile rail-trail known as Virginia Creeper on October 17. Admission to the event is $75 per person and will begin at the Pavilion Recreation Complex at 400 Scottswood Road in Taylors.
Once participants arrive, they will load their bikes onto trailers and ride to the end of the trail on Whitetop Mountain on the Virginia-North Carolina border. Then, they will bike 20 miles downhill to Damascus, Virginia where everyone will enjoy lunch. After that, they will shuttle into Abingdon and bike 15 miles downhill back to Damascus.
This beginner bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail is perfect for hybrid or mountain bikes. It features crushed stone and a gentle slope.
The drive home will take place from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. and will include a quick stop for dinner.
