I get asked this question more often than you would think. The truth is that homes are bought and sold in the Greenville market virtually every day of the year. But there tends to be more activity in the spring time and traditionally it is one of the times that more sellers put their home on the market. Here is why:
1) The weather is better for people to show their homes. They can more easily make exterior improvements, landscaping touch ups and other enhancements to their home that will add to the curb appeal.
2) Many people want to time their moves to the end of a school year. If your school year ends in May or June and you want to let your kids finish their school year, many people hold off until right about now to put their home on the market. (hint: more buyers are often out this time of year for the same reason.)
3) The holidays season is past and it is easier to "show your home" this time of year. Let's face it, having your home in tip top condition and having people looking at it during the holiday season that is already busy and hectic is not easy. This time of year makes it much easier since you already want to be outside of your home and doing family activities anyway.
