From the outside, this collection of roughly 500 homes in Mauldin, located off Ashmore Bridge Road, is typical of suburban Greenville County. Most people work during the day, though a few moms and dads stay home in Planters Row.
Among the neighborhood's attractions, residents say, are convenience to jobs and shopping and access to good schools. Three grocery stores and a CVS drugstore are less than a five-minute drive away. Mauldin City Hall is about two miles away.
Those who move into the older part of the neighborhood — built by Centex Homes in the mid-1990s — say they like the established plants and the winding creeks that meander in the shade of local hardwoods and evergreens.
The newer part of the neighborhood — begun by the Ryland Group after 2000 — is less wooded but has about 20 newer homes in six floor plans, ranging from the 1,600-square-foot Aspen to the 2,800-square-foot Williamsburg.
Homes in both parts of the neighborhood have open floor plans with kitchens flowing into living rooms. Both parts of the neighborhood give residents access to a swimming pool, tennis court and play area. Neighbors also get together several times a year, to have some old-fashioned block parties.
