River Walk SC Real Estate
In so many cases, it seems subdivision names have nothing whatsoever to do with the actual neighborhoods they seek to define. But in the case of River Walk, the name is an apt description; the neighborhood does have a winding, four-mile paved walking path, which actually crosses a river — actually, Gilder Creek. The walking path is one of the amenities that many residents of River Walk say drew them to this upscale development located in unincorporated Greenville County near both Mauldin and Simpsonville.
While the more-than-four-mile asphalt ribbon that meanders through the neighborhood is an important amenity to many of the residents, it’s not the only one. River Walk also boasts an attractive clubhouse, a fitness room with weights and aerobic equipment, four hard-surface tennis courts, a large pool, and a playground that was only recently constructed. It’s a community that seems to enjoy the active life. In 2004, the 198-member swim team managed a sporting coup — they took the top spot in the SAIL Red Division.
Development at River Walk began in 1987; today, only a few vacant lots remain. For some residents, the combination of newer, well-built homes in a naturalistic, mature setting was an attraction.
